Derek Bobus is a San Francisco DJ, producer, and resident of the influential queer music collective Honey Soundsystem. Known for emotionally charged sets that move fluidly between psychedelic disco, proto-house, synth oddities, Hi-NRG, and deep underground club music, Bobus has become a distinctive voice within the Bay Area’s nightlife community. His approach balances dancefloor intensity with musical curiosity, drawing equally from the hedonism of classic gay disco culture and the darker edges of contemporary electronic music.

As part of Honey Soundsystem, Bobus has helped carry forward San Francisco’s legacy of queer nightlife through parties, collaborations, and international appearances that emphasize inclusivity, sound system culture, and adventurous programming.
